 Lady Masters Golf Classic 2007

After yet another successful year for the ‘LMG’ (Ladies Masters Golf) program run by Head Professional Ian Parker and Assistant Professional Will Middleton at Mill Green Golf Club, the second annual LMG Parker Classic, a nine hole Texas Scramble competition, was played by the program’s students. After completing the warm up all the ladies were introduced to their group marshals for the day, these marshals consisted of some of the members of the successful Tiger Club, Ladies Captain Adele Price, Past Captain Debbie Barnes and ladies section member Christine Hutchings. Thirty-six ladies stood on the first tee in their groups of threes, all with team names and some with team uniforms; quite a spectacular sight on the unusually dry and sunny October afternoon.

As the tournament progressed, lots of cheers and laughter could be heard from all parts of the course, signalling that the ladies and marshals alike were enjoying the good weather and the day of golf.

The day was rounded off with a delicious three course meal and presentation of the prizes in the club’s Salisbury Suite. After an incredibly successful day, the winners emerged from the twelve groups.

First place was taken by the ‘Red Devils’ consisting of Julliet McNally, Cathy Spencer and Sue Swain bringing in a fantastic score of 26, second place went to ‘The HMS’ consisting of team members Alison Hinds, Chris Marsden and Sue Shipp who collectively brought in a score of 31, winning on count back from ‘Ian’s Rejects’, Charleen Benson, Janet Pratten and Stephanie Russel who took third place. Nearest the Pin on the ninth went to Jackie Warren and best dressed team went to Josie Chamberlain, Eileen Davey and Imogen Rubenstein in the group ‘Right Club, Wrong Direction’. The prize for Shot of the Day went to Mel Crawford who also took one of the two places as LMG Captain, the other going to Eileen Davey.
